No experience needed. In one day you will discover the basics of freediving. breathing technique, relaxation, equalisation and your first dives. Available as either AIDA 1 or Molchanovs Discovery depending on your preference.
The introduction course is not just a taster. it covers the core theory and practical skills every freediver needs. You will leave with a real understanding of how your body responds to breath-holding and how to work with it rather than against it.
Topics covered include the physiology of breath-holding, the mammalian dive reflex, basic equalization technique, relaxation and breathing preparation, finning technique, duck dives and an introduction to safe freediving practice.
Both courses cover the same fundamentals. The main difference is in structure and focus. AIDA 1 includes a pool session plus optional open water, while Molchanovs Discovery lets you choose between a dedicated pool or open water session.
Both courses will give you an excellent introduction to freediving. Here is my honest assessment of when each makes more sense.
You want the most widely recognised entry-level certification and plan to continue with AIDA courses. Also a good choice if you want the flexibility of doing a pool-only session without committing to open water on day one.
You are drawn to the Molchanovs methodology, which places a strong emphasis on technique and body awareness from the very first session. The slightly deeper open water option (14m vs 10m) can also be appealing if you want to get a real feel for depth on your first day.
Not sure? Just reach out and we can figure out the best fit based on your goals and where you want to go with your freediving.
